The purpose of this position is to coordinate department development and growth projects and provide event program support for HIMSS global content and programming.   This includes but is not limited to process improvement projects, speaker outreach and scheduling, administrative and logistic management, program advisory board support, and management of content marketing for website agendas and development of onsite graphics.


Main responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the development of event program and content through speaker recruitment and logistic management efforts & activities.
  • Coordinate speaker call for proposals tools and processes.
  • Support and improve upon the design and development of department tools and processes
  • Maintain session and speaker database and project management documents
  • Collect and track speaker materials such as hotel, registration, marketing information, PowerPoints and other materials
  • Assist in development and implementation of event communication and audience acquisition projects
  • Support new initiatives as directed by the department Director, including, but not limited to conferences, events, or the introduction of new technologies and processes.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree or additional equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related work experience in a program specialist position
  • Customer focused with assertive, self-confident personality
  • A self-starter and able to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated abilities in various technologies like the Microsoft Office Suite of programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Ability to travel on a minimum basis
