Your Challenge: The Corporate Controller will be responsible for directing the financial reporting for internal and external accounting, with an understanding of international accounting principles. In a fast-pace environment, the role will require the Controller to be flexible, open-minded and hands-on. This person will manage the company's accounting and financial reporting functions working closely with the Operations Leader; manage various complex accounting areas including Stock-based compensation and administration, convertible debit, internally developed software, among others.

Initially relying on the existing accounting team, but as the business grows, there will an opportunity to create a team to support the continued expansion and complexity.  This person is expected to be a strong and positive leader, coach and advisor willing to roll up their sleeves to work alongside the team and share process and technical expertise to continually evolve the organization’s capability.


What you will tackle:

  • Provide accounting and business leadership in support of the business plan to drive long term strategic goals
  • Support the Product and Sales team in building the revenue structure of new products currently under development
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition, in line with GAAP and FASB, and timely and accurate expense management, including specialty payment terms under MSAs
  • Prepare financial statements, metrics and analysis for internal management, investors and board presentations
  • Partner with operations leaders to prepare an annual budget and monthly rolling forecast updates
  • Collaborate closely with the legal team regarding company governance processes, including US and international activities
  • Keep abreast of accounting developments, researching and providing recommendations related to complex accounting issues, including stock-based compensation, convertible debt, investment raises and spin-off and purchase accounting
  • Ensure adherence to established internal controls, while driving continuous process improvement
  • Coordinate activities of external audit and tax reviews
  • Complete ad hoc requests and special projects

What you will need to be successful:

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in areas of increasing responsibility
  • Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting, MBA is a plus
  • CPA is a must
  • Prior industry experience in a digital environment and/or healthcare
  • A keen interest in the tech industry and savvy enough to understand the business requirements
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to take initiative with little direction
  • Ability to work under pressure, and to tight deadlines
  • Highly organized, inquisitive and open to new ideas and considerations
  • Strong technically and can create insight and solutions that add value
  • Deep and broad accounting rigor demonstrated through mastery of accounting theory and application of technical, complex accounting treatments, including revenue recognition, software development costs, intellectual property licenses, income taxes, stock compensation and international accounting and tax principals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective and experienced in communication at leadership levels
  • Personal presence, excellent interpersonal skills and the cultural sensitivity to work with a diverse, international team
